BA plans dedicated business check-in at T5

BA Announced that it is planning a dedicated business class check-in area at Heathrow Terminal 5 at the same time as it claimed that the terminal was seeing “significant gains” in improved punctuality and baggage performance.

BA scraps red-eye flights from Glasgow to Heathrow

British Airways has confirmed that it's 6am flights from Glasgow to Heathrow will cease on 27th October 2008. The Scottish Council for Development and Industry is worried that BA and BMI will switch their precious "landing slots" at Heathrow to more lucrative long-haul destinations. BA admitted that the move would cut the number of aircraft held overnight at Glasgow from two to one.

Continental to join Star Alliance

Continental Airlines is set to swap Skyteam for Star Alliance as it forges closer ties with United Airlines. The process, which will see Continental team up with the likes of Lufthana, Bmi, Swiss and Air New Zealand, as well as United, is expected to take around a year.

BA subsiduary OpenSkies launches directs flights from France to North America

British Airways became the first airline to take full advantage from the bilateral EU-US Open Skies agreement, when its newly created subsiduary OpenSkies began direct flights from Paris to New York on 19th June.

Marriott Beijing opens

The Courtyard by Marriott Beijing Northwest has officially opened its doors, with special opening rates available until 31 July 2009.

Ruth Kelly announces Manchester transport boost.

The transport secretary announced that Greater Manchester will receive £2.8bn in provisional funding for major public transport improvements.

Ryanair launches mobile Flight Tracker service

Low cost carrier Ryanair launched a new Fligth Tracker service which will deliver up to date flight information direct to mobile phones in the UK.The service costs £1.50 and can be accessed by calling 0844 939393 or by texting FR plus the flight number to 57252.
